Today’s #marchmeetthemaker is #photography! It’s hard for me! Especially because my paintings are sparkly! But I think I am getting better at it 😬I have a couple cameras, but I’ll be honest, I usually use my phone. I try to take photos from different angles and kind of light to give the feel of the piece. My work is always best experienced in person, though
My first portrait of my son. I have been so scared to go there, because especially when they are your own, they are so precious and perfect. I didn’t want to ruin that. Today’s #marchmeetthemaker is supposed to be about me, but I am not really in the mood to show my face today! What is hard about these challenges is finding ways to be on, when you are off! So, I thought I would show this instead! It was painted with my handmade watercolors. I am going to offer custom portraits through my website, soon. Sign up for my newsletter to be notified when they are available!
I have been off my game keeping up with posting on the blog. But I have been keeping up on Instagram! I am horribly busy in my studio getting ready for art fair season. Until today I have been watching my kids and working past midnight. I have been exhausted. I finally have a nanny to help. So, starting today I should be better.
Ugh, Rose and and I got Jason’s cold from last week. We are miserable. Rose, especially. She does not handle colds well, and it always blows up into a nasty respiratory thing. Poor girl.
Anyway, I am thoroughly overwhelmed again. I am in the process of moving my studio. I know, what a surprise! I just talked about my tiny, happy space a couple weeks ago, and here I am moving! I am adding a couple art fairs this summer, and when I realized how much inventory I need, I started to up my production. Anyway, my tiny studio is officially too tiny. I am moving into the finished basement, where we previously had a room for the kids. I am so excited at the potential. But for now, my life is a mess and it is frustrating. And now that I am sick, everything is put on pause. Ugh!
Thanks for sticking with me. I had a successful shop update over the weekend. I will have another one in March. I am also working on two other secret projects that I can’t wait to share with you!
I inherited my grandmothers very large collection of costume jewelry. For the last several months I have been using the damaged beads and odds and ends in my handmade watercolors. The green bead on the bottom came from her collection and inspired the luna moth above.
Yesterdays post was delayed. My daughter has a virus and has a terrible cough at night. I have had to stay up with her through the night, and I am exhausted! Steamy showers, VICS, repeat. Anyone have any other tips for a 1 year old sick baby?
Today I am in the studio, enjoying a day of painting, writing, and fighting off the exhaustion after two nights of no sleep. Luckily I have help with the kids today, so I can finish up a few commissions and write a little bit about my materials. There seem to be quite a few people interested in this.
Please keep the questions coming. This gives me something to write about!

It has been a while since I posted an update. I am pregnant and have been very ill. I am trying to get myself motivated to get back into the studio and make new work, something that has been a challenge on top of preparing for this summer's art fairs. This is the first time I am giving my all to the art fairs, so it is taking a lot of work to prepare. Brochures, labels, boxes, packaging, building walls and tables... the list of to-dos go on. I only have a month until my first fair, so it is time to get serious.
Here are some snap shots of the state of my studio.
