Cicada Emergence / Original Painting with Copper Electroformed Leaf
Cicada Emergence / Original Painting with Copper Electroformed Leaf
This will be a hard one to give up, but I am hoping it will fund a series of pieces concerning a similar theme.
This piece is about when the leaf falls from the tree to the ground, it nurtures the soil where the roots grow. Cicadas feed on the roots of trees for years before emerging from the ground. The leaf represents the leaf and the roots. The cicada emergence represents birth, growth, and life emerging from death. Or, another life-cycle piece if you want to keep it simple.
It is an original mixed-media piece made out of my grandmother’s antique jewelry, handmade watercolors, 24k gold leaf, a cicada husk, and a real leaf that I electroformed, or covered in Copper.
I had a black custom frame made for it before the pandemic, so it can be framed, included in the price.
