Day 86 of My 100 Days of Gold / Earth #4 / Made out of a broken marble, handmade watercolor, 24k gold / Matted and Ready to fit in a 5''x7'' Frame
from $90.00
I made 4 paintings of earth this Earth Day. This listing is for one of those paintings (the one in the picture). They are made out of first, a crushed marble from my childhood along with one of my grandmother’s marbles. The first time the earth was described from space, it was said that it looked like a blue marble. I thought that crushing the marble was a good metaphor for our complicated relationship with earth. Putting it together in a way that is beautiful and precious (using the 24k gold) offers an image of hope. For me, making these were a way to honor earth.
Made with handmade watercolors that I made out of my grandmother’s jewels, crushed marbles, and 24k gold leaf. It comes in a double mat that will fit in a 5’’x7’’ frame.
