Sol, the personification of the Sun and a god in ancient Roman culture. This Sol is the counterpart to my Luna, the Moon Goddess. I worked on this piece for many months to perfect her. My originals are made out of handmade watercolors, crushed jewelry, and 24k gold among other beautiful material. I inherited a large collection of costume jewelry from my grandmother many years ago. I sat with her jewels that she carefully picked out and wore close to her body, knowing that I am an artist and I would have to use them in some way! The epiphany happened when I was working on a large collection of insects. I was contemplating how we interact with our environment, often literally crushing these beautiful creatures. Insects are iridescent and symmetrical and are visually gorgeous from an aesthetic level, just like a bead. How could we ever destroy them? But somehow we do and we have, as we have done with our environment.

PRINTS
I received my MFA degree with an emphasis in Printmedia aka Printmaking! So yes, I love making prints too! AND, I like making them super special prints—something precious that you will pass on to future generations! My studio is set up with full-on printmaking equipment, an exposure unit, printers, and now a paper-making station! Each one is made with pigment ink or a traditional printing method. I make my own paper in my studio and I like to add special elements to each piece. Even though they are prints, they are still something you will keep and cherish forever!
